Rangana Herath will lead the Sri Lankan team in two-test series against Bangladesh due to Sri Lankan captain, Angelo Mathew’s unavailability. Upul Tharanga and Dinesh Chandimal were also considered for the captaincy but Rangana Herath is good for the position. Hearth had led Sri Lanka to a 2-0 victory against Zimbabwe in last October and November 2016.
All rounder Asela Gunaratne, batsman Niroshan Dickwella have been named for the squad. Left-arm spinner Malinda Pushpakumara has been called for the Sri Lankan squad for the first time. Pushpakumara, the former Lumbini College all rounder, is currently playing for the Chilaw Marians Cricket Club has showed impressive form in first-class cricket. He has taken 558 wickets in first-class cricket, an average of 19.85 and among the top three wicket-takers in the Premier League Tournament.
